From May 26 to July 10, YOU can take part in the Unified Relay Across America presented by Bank of America, an event that will unify the nation as it delivers the Flame of Hope to Los Angeles for the Special Olympics World Games.
Anyone can be a torchbearer. Register today as a team or individual and take part in the once in a lifetime event to deliver the Flame of Hope and raise money for Special Olympics. Join a movement that is breaking down the barriers for those with intellectual disabilities, celebrating differences and becoming unified in the spirit of respect and inclusion.
The Relay will kick off in the beautiful State of Maine, on May 26th, at the State House in Augusta (more details to come).

ALL Class "A" Volunteers

there is a

"Protective Behaviors"

Training Policy in effect!!!

Class "A" Volunteer is defined as
an individual who will have direct contact with or supervision of an athlete.
All Class "A" volunteers MUST
complete a "Protective Behaviors" course -
an online version is available.

Once you have successfully completed the course, SOME will receive an email confirmation that you have completed the training.  We would prefer that everyone use the online training, however, if you are not able to, you may obtain a CD version of the training, by calling Ian Frank at 879-0489.

Concussion Awareness &

Safety Recognition Policy

It is Special Olympic's intent to take steps to help ensure the health and safety of all Special Olympics participants.  And with that, everyone involved in Special Olympics should remember that safety comes first, and should take reasonable steps to help minimize the risks for concussion or other serious brain injuries.
Effective March 1, 2015, a participant who is suspected of sustaining a concussion in a practice, game or competition shall be removed from practice, play or competition at that time.  If a qualified medical professional is available on-site to rentder an evaluation, that person shall have final authority as to whether or not a concussion is suspected.  If applicable, the participant's parent or guardian should be made aware that the participant is suspected of sustaining a concussion.
