Volunteers truly are the very backbone of

    the Special Olympics Maine program!

Each year, Special Olympics Maine volunteers make it possible for more than 3,200 persons with intellectual disabilities to receive training and conditioning in a host of sports and recreational activities which enrich their lives.

Without volunteers assisting Special Olympics athletes, coaches, and families, it would be impossible to provide these life-enriching experiences.

Becoming A Volunteer

There are many ways in which a person can become involved. Each person may predetermine how much time they wish to invest in Special Olympics on a weekly, monthly, or annual basis.

Most first time volunteers work by offering services which support the activities of the local, area and state programs, such as volunteering at Area Spring Track & Field Games, Summer or Winter Games, State Basketball Tourneys, State Soccer Tourneys, etc.

Regardless of the level of interest and measure of time you may wish to contribute, every person is welcomed to participate at their own pace.

If you want to volunteer at the Area level, in the county you live in, please check out our Area Programs page (top left), click on the county you live in and you will find the name(s) of an Area Manager contact.
